Dennis Nilsen’s Iconic Mugshot Glasses

These are the original, silver-rimmed glasses (with 
case) that Dennis Nilsen was wearing in his iconic 
full-lengh police photograph taken in 1983, as well as 
in other journalistic photographs taken of him during 
the early stages after his arrest.
The frames are metal and the stems are a dark-ambre 
colour and whilst they are still firmly attached, the joint 
has broken rendering them unable to be correctly worn.
The item is featured, photographed on the front cover 
of History of a Drowning Boy (DN’s autobiography) and 
are also featured in the colour plates section of the 
autobiography
